FAQ: we answer the most frequently asked questions regarding composite decking

Woodplast has been in the composite decking market for nearly 20 years, which is why we consider ourselves experts in the field. We have selected some of the most important issues on terraces, which are the most common and do not lose their relevance. Below we will answer them in as much detail as possible.

Why is composite board better than wood?

Undoubtedly, wood flooring remains the most desirable for those who plan to build a terrace. The main argument is maximum naturalness.

But, years of experience have shown us that in open space, especially in our weather conditions, wood does not withstand several seasons without care.

The natural coating must be impregnated at least once a year with protective agents against insects and mold, excessive moisture and drying out and varnished. And all this is your time and extra money.

The composite is not in vain also called innovative wood.

It was created specifically to ensure that you get naturalness under your feet (due to the fact that the board consists of 60% wood flour), but were deprived of all the shortcomings of the tree. That is, the terrace board at the production stage is already protected from moisture, insects, mold, ultraviolet radiation due to special additives in its composition.

And buying a composite board for a terrace, you do not need to think about maintenance anymore – you save your time and money.

In addition, a high-class board looks today in such a way that only professionals can distinguish it from a tree. A palette of colors and textures – for any, even the most picky taste.

Can a deck board crack or break?

Like any other material, it can. With a purpose, even the strongest iron can be broken.

But, in the process of producing a terrace composite, everything is done to the maximum so that the board on your terrace serves for several decades.

All raw materials from which the composite is produced undergo multi-level laboratory control. For example, wood flour is tested for fiber length and moisture content.

Also, all finished products are also carefully checked for strength and density.

The installation of the terrace will also be responsible for the endurance and strength of the composite board. For example, it is very important to adhere to expansion gaps when laying. They are responsible for how the terrace will react to temperature changes from heat to frost. This has a huge impact on the longevity of your deck and its warranty.

We always recommend entrusting the installation of the terrace only to professionals who know all the nuances of laying the board.

Does the color of the terrace change over time?

A high-quality terraced composite board, like Bruggan or Legro, is very carefully protected from fading.

Additives are responsible for this – special impurities that make up the board.

Therefore, premium quality decking is not afraid of the scorching sun and retains its color for years.

But there is the concept of color stabilization. This is when in the first few seasons the board can change color by a few halftones and this is normal for such a process.

Is the decking board resistant to stains and scratches?

Another important difference between decking boards is protection against scratches and stains.

Depending on the manufacturer and collection, you can choose the optimally protected one.

For example, the decking board Legro Ultra has 100% stain protection.

And the full bodied Bruggan Multicolor composite has a fully resurfacing surface. That is, if coffee or red wine accidentally spills onto your terrace, or you scratch it, you can get rid of it as quickly as possible using only ordinary sandpaper.

How does the decking warranty work?

Depending on the collection of decking, you can get a financial guarantee for it from 15 to 25 years.

It is important to know that when buying a Bruggan or Legro terrace board from any of our dealers, you must be issued a signed and stamped warranty card, which contains all the conditions for providing a financial guarantee.

This is an important document that should be kept for the entire period of operation.
