Ecological terrace board. The advantages of composite

What are environmentally friendly building materials?

Ecological terrace board. The advantages of composite.

These are materials that have as little environmental impact as possible during construction and then during operation.

By using them, you preserve and improve eco-life throughout the entire life cycle of the material: manufacturing, transport, installation and operation.

Today, such materials are most often used by architects and designers for their projects, trying to make construction as environmentally friendly as possible.

Therefore, world-famous manufacturers invest money in the development of innovative materials, which should be as natural and environmentally friendly as possible, have all the advantages and get rid of all the disadvantages of their closest analogues.

For example, everyone knows that wood is the most environmentally friendly material for building terraces and pergolas, pool areas and garden paths.

Yes, it is natural, textured, pleasant to the touch and very aesthetically pleasing.

While inside the house wood feels perfect, outside the house, in the open space, all the shortcomings of this seemingly flawless material are revealed.

Wood is very picky about temperature changes, hates too much moisture and sun, is afraid of insects, mould, fungus.

That’s why composite material appeared in the modern world.

The main purpose of its creation was to invent the best analogue of wood, which will be the ideal material for open space.

It is important not to lose all the best qualities, such as tactile and visual sensations and environmental friendliness. But at the same time it will be deprived of the most annoying drawbacks of wood, that is, it will become resistant to ultraviolet and moisture, fungi and mould.

Many people deny the environmental friendliness of the composite, because its composition includes polymers and additives that protect the material from external factors and the whims of nature.

But here are a few good arguments in favour of composite decking boards

Firstly, it is created using the safest possible polymers from food and cosmetics packaging. Responsible manufacturers, such as Bruggan, never use containers from industrial chemicals and medical products.

Secondly, they use virgin polymer, which allows them to maintain density and control its origin.

Thirdly, they do not use PVC for production. This means that the material does not emit formaldehyde, carcinogens or heavy metals, even during combustion.

Let's get back to the tree

So, this building material for terraces or the area around a swimming pool is initially as environmentally friendly as possible, because what could be more ecological than wood.

But to protect wood in the open space from all the natural pests that destroy this material – it must be carefully protected.

Every new season of operation, and sometimes twice a season (depends on the intensity of use) wood must be: cleaned, impregnated, sanded and varnished. And for these additional protective manipulations use lacquers and paints, special protection means, which are no longer environmentally safe. And the most natural wood becomes not so ecofriendly.

Therefore, if we compare the terrace composite board with wood, we have an innovative material, which already at the stage of production is protected and safe and does not require additional attention: time and money.

And a material that is attractive from the very beginning, but afterwards becomes eco-dangerous and less natural, “thanks” to the means that preserve its perfect appearance.

And in addition, the terracotta board, which consists of 60% wood flour (specifically, from recycled wood left over from the production of furniture), does not require additional cutting of trees.

Thus, by choosing a composite for your terrace, you are protecting the planet for future generations.
